The book club selection for January is Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China by Jung Chang.

For those who want to read ahead, I'll mention selections for February and March.
For February: Resurrection by Leo Tolstoy. Nekhlyudov, a nobleman, reexamines himself and his life years after he's gotten his girlfriend into a pickle with complications of which he is only now aware.
For March: The Bell by Iris Murdoch. Britain's brainiest post-war novelist follows Dora Greenfield who has taken leave of her husband and through a sequence of misunderstandings winds up at the dredging of an old bell which has sat for many years at the bottom of a lake. The story has a laugh-out-loud moment. You'll know it when you're there!
Note: I have read both of these at different periods in my life and will enjoy rereading them. I read Resurrection about 1970 and
The Bell in '98 or '99.
